How To Repair A Hole In The Wall

Mistakes happen, and sometimes there will be something that will punch a hole in your wall. It is especially important to fill in holes when you are moving residences, to avoid paying extra maintenance fees. It is also very easy to repair most holes in walls, as most walls are made of drywall these days. With a little bit of elbow grease, it will be cheaper and faster to complete the repairs without the help of a handyman.

There are a few items to collect before starting on your repair project, such as sandpaper, some wall filler, a damp sponge, and a putty knife. All these items are easily found in a local hardware store. Make sure that you have everything together to speed up the process and avoid making mistakes.

Take the sandpaper and smooth out the area that is being patched. This will ensure that the patching compound sticks properly to the wall to create a seamless look. If it is a large hole, it may be necessary to use a spare piece of drywall before applying the putty. Then be sure to wipe the wall with a damp sponge to clean up the dust and other small debris.

Smooth the putty on with a putty knife, keeping the wall even while filling the hole enough to be solid that it does not break apart. Let the patch dry, it may take a few days depending on how much was needed to fill the hole. Then sand the entire area again to remove any marks or bumps that may have come up. Be sure to paint the entire wall to avoid any patchy looks between paint colours.

Filling a hole in your wall does not have to cost a lot of money or time. A few simple items from the store, and a little bit of time, and your wall will look good as new again. It does not have to be a large inconvenience, just about anyone can complete this minor project in less than an hour. Follow the steps, and be sure to get good quality supplies from  Sunlite Hardware, and it will be better than before.
